About Jada

I'm Jada!

I'm a Henna and Face Paint artist from Aberdeen, South Dakota. I first learned about henna art when I met an artist at a Celtic Faire who did henna tattoos and had various other items she was selling in her booth. After the faire was over, she gave me my first cone of henna ink so I could practice, and I was hooked! I'm now doing henna events on my own!

I can use stencils to do quick and simple henna art, but I especially love to do custom freehand designs. I love art. I draw, paint, and love to learn new art mediums.

I also do face painting and it's been really fun to see kids get excited when they see their faces done!

I'd love to come do henna art or face painting at your next event!

Henna FAQ's

What Is Henna

Henna is typicallya brownish red pigment that is applied to the skin that leaves a stain when washed off. Traditionally the art has been practiced in many cultures as a decoration for special events.

How much does it cost to get a piece done?

I can create a piece based off of a premade stencil, or by special request.  I will freehand by request.
-I can use stencils which are priced by their sizes:

  • small = $5.00
  • medium = $10.00
  • large = $15.00 +

-OR Let me know your budget and I can design a piece for you for that cost! (you definitely get more bang for your buck with this option!)

When my henna is finished, what do I need to do?

When Jada finishes a piece, you will want to make sure that you do not smudge the design at all since the ink will last 1-2 weeks. When the ink is completely dry, it will form a crust and start to flake off. When the whole pieces is COMPLETELY dry, you can rub off the dry ink or wash it in the sink with soap and water. It takes about a half hour for it to start to dry and can take as long as 2 hours depending on the design. (colored pieces will take much longer to dry.)

The flakes will stain floors so it's best to remove the ink outside.

Follow the instructions Jada gives you when you have finished.

How long does henna ink last?

The length of time that your henna lasts depends on the daily use of your hands and how often and how vigourously you wash your skin. Most henna ink will last between 1-2 weeks. Colored henna is a little less and generallyl lasts about a week.

Your henna will darken on the skin over the first 48 hours.  It will appear lighter at first.

Is Henna Safe?

Yes! To be sure, I use only All Natural Henna Ink.

While a reaction can occur, it is very rare with the ink that I use.

Avoid contact with your eyes and mouth and do not ingest.

What is a Henna party like?

Typically a henna party is just a really laid back time with your friends! Get your favorite snacks, party games, and beverages and have a fun night in with your favorite people! Basically, you hang out and take turns getting henna tattoos!

I have party rates that vary by the hour or by the number of guests. Travel expenses waived within Aberdeen, SD City Limits.

Price Per Hour = $50/hr (minimum of 1 hour)

Price Per Person: Recommended $20.00/person - This covers a custom XL piece so you'll definitely get your money's worth! (Minimum of 6 guests)

*To cover the charge the host can opt to treat their guests or ask that everyone pays for thier own piece, but it's really important that your guests are clearly informed if they will be responsible to pay for anything at your party. It helps to elimitate confusion for the artist and makes it more fun to take turns if the money is collected up front and the rest of the party can be left for fun!
